What is a Fraternal Benefit Society?

Approximately 10 million men, women and children belong to 78 fraternal benefit societies in the United States and Canada. Fraternals can be organized around a shared ethnic background, religion or occupation. National Mutual Benefit is a general fraternal benefit society, serving families of all ethnic, religious and vocational backgrounds. National Mutual Benefit's common bond of membership is to strengthen families, communities and our country.

Fraternal organizations contribute to the human needs in a community, needs not always met by governmental bodies. Through charitable, educational, patriotic and/or religious work, fraternal benefit societies make a difference in communities around the nation.

National Mutual Benefit members demonstrate their fraternal background through branch activities and programs. Branch activities bring families together to enjoy social, civic, charitable and educational programs. Members serve their communities through hands-on projects made possible with financial and volunteer support.
